The full version of YouTube’s ‘Recap’ feature, owned by Google, is a personalized and shareable highlight reel that summarizes everything users watched on the platform throughout 2025. The move places YouTube alongside rivals Apple Music Replay and Spotify Wrapped, which have popularized annual streaming summaries.

What is YouTube Recap?

YouTube Recap gives users a curated snapshot of their viewing habits over the year. The company describes it as a detailed synopsis reflecting users’ favorite channels, topics, and how their interests evolved during 2025. The feature is currently available on both mobile and desktop to users in North America, with a global rollout later this week.

After rigorous testing, including nine rounds of feedback and over 50 different concepts, YouTube designed a feature that serves up to 12 personalized cards for every user. These cards detail favorite channels and trending topics.

The platform also gives each viewer a personality type based on their consumption of videos, with labels such as ‘Sunshiner’, ‘Wonder Seeker’, and ‘Connector’. The rare types include ‘Philosopher’ and ‘Dreamer’.

More Than Just Videos: Music and Podcasts Included

For those who streamed a lot of music, Recap reveals their top artists and songs of the year. In the meantime, the YouTube platform made public its yearly about the most liked creators, songs, and podcasts, casting light on the main 2025 trends.
