As artificial intelligence continues to make its mark across every sector, Nikita Bier, Product Head at X, aims to launch a new AI product. He believes that X has the potential to get its own AI video editor model. Nikita Bier reveals he built a fully functional video editor for X in 15 minutes using AI. He has thus reduced months of engineering into minutes.

X plans for AI: What’s new

Bier’s project highlights how fast AI is reshaping software development. Nikita Bier has been working on a video editor model for X. He explains that this new model can complete months of work in hours. So now, video editing will take much less time and will be even less hectic.

In a post on Sunday, Nikita Bier wrote, “I one-shotted a full in-browser editor in 15 minutes.” He explains that his earlier plan was to integrate a native video editor into X.

The aim was to bring a video editor similar to those found in other social media apps. So, the Product Head at X decided to build a prototype on his own. He expected his project to take roughly three months of development time. But the speed of the build surprised him.

The project demands design iterations, special teams, and long testing cycles. However, using generative AI tools, he completed the project in a single session.

The roadmap ahead

AI-powered tools are already known for offering detection highlights, automatic captioning, and one-click editing, greatly reducing the need for traditional hands-on timelines. Nikita Bier’s experiment reflects how AI-assisted coding and design tools could allow product managers and non-engineers with no advanced technical knowledge to build working prototypes.

He also said this experience felt transformative. For a moment, he even doubted the future of complex creative software suites amid the rise of AI-powered tools. Traditional tools often take too much time and place too much workload on users. But AI does not need all these hectic steps.  He further highlights  that “It felt like I could replace the entire Adobe software suite by Sunday.”

Bier argues that the rapid pace of AI progress can negatively impact product leaders by creating instability in their career sectors. Other key points in his statement are:

  • AI tools boost development but also make long-term planning harder.

  • Features built with AI tools might soon become outdated and irrelevant as smart automation advances.
