Whatfix co-founder and CEO Khadim Batti passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on September 1, 2026. He was one of the most prominent names in India’s startup world and founded Whatfix, a SaaS company based in Bengaluru and San Francisco. The journey started in 2014 with another co-founder of the company, Vara Kumar. After a glorious journey, his sudden death was a major loss for the company and India’s startup community.

The vision of Whatfix was simple: to make software usage easier for employees. The company built tools that help employees learn and use workplace software. Over the years, Whatfix grew its customer base and expanded into markets such as the US, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The company also raised large funding rounds as it grew.

Batti was also closely related to India’s SaaS and AI founder communities. Regarding his demise, Avinash Raghava, CEO and founding volunteer at SaaSBoomi, mentioned, “Khadim has been such an important part of our AIBoomi community and of the larger SaaS and AI ecosystem in India. Someone many of us have known over the years, shared rooms and conversations with, learned from, and deeply respected.”

Khadim Batti’s Startup Lessons

One of Batti’s biggest strengths was staying close to customers. Whatfix focused on a clear problem faced by businesses: employees often struggle to use new software. Instead of making users search for help, Whatfix built guidance directly into the software.

This simple approach helped the company win large business customers. Whatfix later added more products and services as customer needs changed. The company also moved into areas such as product analytics and AI tools.

Batti’s journey shows why startups need to solve real problems first. Khadim Batti helped take an Indian software startup to a global stage. His work at Whatfix leaves behind a company built around customer needs and steady growth. His passing is a sad moment for his team, customers, and the wider startup world.
