Vivo confirmed the X500 series for China in September 2026, bringing three flagship models with a video-first camera upgrade. The lineup includes Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max, while the company jumps from X300 to X500. Vivo’s Product Manager Han Boxiao highlighted major advances in mobile video, with Zeiss branding and a Sony-developed sensor leading the camera push.
The X500 Pro models will feature a Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera with a 50MP, 1/1.28-inch sensor developed with Vivo’s Blueprint imaging team and Sony. Vivo claims up to 17EV dynamic range, which should preserve more detail across bright highlights and dark areas. The new system targets difficult scenes and extends the imaging focus beyond standard smartphone photography.
Video recording gets the biggest upgrade, with 4K 240fps slow motion and 4K 120fps HDR recording confirmed for the Pro models. The X500 Pro Max will also feature 3-degree optical image stabilization, which Vivo describes as “gimbal-level” performance. The lineup will support CIPA 7.0 stabilization, although real-world performance will need testing after launch.
Vivo has not revealed the exact September launch date, pricing, or international availability. India also lacks an official launch confirmation, leaving the China debut as the only confirmed market.
The X400 name will not appear, creating a direct jump from X300 to X500. Reports connect the move with tetraphobia, a cultural aversion to the number four in parts of East Asia. Vivo has not officially explained the numbering change.
Leaks also point toward Dimensity 9600 series chips, large batteries, and a 200MP periscope camera. Those details remain unconfirmed until Vivo releases complete specifications.
The camera strategy gives the X500 series a clear identity before launch, especially as smartphone makers increasingly compete on cinematic video rather than megapixel counts alone. Vivo’s September reveal should clarify the remaining hardware and market plans.
