Uber is set to expand further into workplace food delivery with plans to acquire US catering platform ezCater for USD 2.3 billion in cash. The deal, announced on Tuesday (October 6, 2026), will bring ezCater’s corporate catering business under Uber’s broader food delivery ecosystem, combining it with Uber Eats and Uber for Business.
The companies said the transaction is expected to strengthen Uber’s position in the enterprise food market while giving restaurants access to larger, higher-value orders.
Founded in 2007, ezCater connects businesses with restaurants and caterers for workplace meals, meetings, corporate events, and recurring food programs. Its platform currently works with more than 140,000 restaurants across the US.
The acquisition gives Uber a direct entry point into a segment where orders tend to be substantially larger than typical consumer food deliveries. ezCater’s average order value is above USD 400, according to the companies.
ezCater generated more than USD 2.5 billion in gross bookings over the past 12 months, with bookings growing at a high-teens rate year over year. The company is also profitable on a non-GAAP operating income basis, Uber said.
The financial profile is an important part of the deal for Uber. The company expects the acquisition to be margin-accretive, meaning ezCater is expected to contribute positively to Uber’s profitability after the transaction is completed.
Uber plans to bring ezCater’s catering and business-to-business expertise together with Uber Eats’ restaurant network and Uber for Business’ relationships with corporate customers.
The combination could allow businesses to manage workplace meals, events and group orders through a broader Uber ecosystem. Restaurants, meanwhile, could gain access to larger catering orders and new corporate customers.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said catering represents a significant revenue opportunity for restaurants, while ezCater CEO Nihad Rahman said the company’s expertise would complement Uber’s network of customers, merchants and couriers.

The acquisition is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. JPMorgan is advising Uber, while Evercore is advising ezCater.
The transaction also fits into Uber’s wider push to expand its delivery business. The company agreed in July to acquire Delivery Hero’s foodpanda business in selected markets for USD 14.8 billion, adding to its focus on growing its global delivery operations.
