Trevor Noah called Google Gemini the ‘GLP-1 of tech’ at the Made by Google 2026 event in New York. Google highlighted Gemini across Pixel 11 phones and other new devices on August 12.
The company aims to make AI handle routine digital tasks with less effort and screen time. Google also said Gemini now has more than one billion monthly users worldwide.
Noah made the comparison while discussing how Gemini can handle everyday tasks for users. “They take things off of your plate,” Noah joked during the talk show style presentation.
The line described Google’s effort to turn Gemini from a chatbot into a more useful digital assistant. More than 100 million Gemini users now access the service through iOS devices, Google said.
Google placed Gemini at the center of the new Pixel 11 experience. The company introduced features that can translate content across podcasts, YouTube videos, and other apps. A new ASL to text feature also aims to improve accessibility for American Sign Language users.
Another new feature called Rambler improves speech input by removing filler words. It also cleans sentences and helps capture the speaker’s intended meaning more clearly.
Google also upgraded Magic Cue into Proactive Assistance for Pixel devices. The feature can find useful information from messages and offer relevant suggestions. A restaurant recommendation, for example, can bring up reviews, menus, and directions automatically.
Gemini also reaches Google’s latest smartwatch features through Pixel Watch 5. Google added Gemini access alongside new health focused tools and Google Health Coach.
The event showed Google’s larger plan for Gemini across phones, watches, and other devices. The focus now shifts from simply answering questions toward handling everyday digital tasks.
