Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, the operator of cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, over alleged unlicensed digital asset trading activities. The regulator has also announced that access to the platform will be blocked from December 5, 2026, following an investigation into its operations in the country.

In an announcement issued on November 5, the Thai SEC said BG Limited had operated a cryptocurrency exchange business without obtaining the necessary authorization. The complaint has been referred to the Economic Crime Suppression Division for further investigation.

The regulator has also instructed the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to Bitget’s website and mobile application. The restriction will cover the exchange’s main website, associated domains, and applications.

Thailand SEC Identifies Unlicensed Trading and Local Promotions

According to the SEC, its investigation identified cryptocurrency trading activities conducted through Bitget between 2022 and 2025. During this period, the platform allegedly facilitated digital asset transactions, collected trading fees, and offered services targeting customers in Thailand.

Investigators also identified a Thai-language website that displayed cryptocurrency values in Thai Baht. The regulator cited promotional activities across social media platforms, including the X account ‘Bitget Thailand’, the Telegram group ‘BGB Thai Holder’, and the TikTok account ‘bitgetthailand’.

The SEC said these activities fell under the definition of operating a digital asset exchange under Section 3 of Thailand’s Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses, enacted in 2018. BG Limited allegedly violated Section 26 of the legislation by operating without a license.

The complaint also names Kritsana Kritsananuwat, who allegedly helped promote Bitget through the Facebook page ‘Srisiam’ and YouTube channel ‘SRISIAM’. The regulator said these promotional activities increased awareness of the platform and encouraged users to access its services.

Investors Asked to Secure Assets Before December 5

The SEC has advised customers holding assets on Bitget to take necessary measures before December 5 to protect their interests ahead of the access restrictions.

Thailand had previously restricted five unlicensed cryptocurrency exchanges in June 2025, including Bybit, OKX, and CoinEx.

The regulator has urged investors to verify whether cryptocurrency service providers are licensed through its official website or the SEC Check First application before using their services.
