Sui has climbed sharply toward the USD 1 mark as trading activity, derivative demand, and anticipation around an upcoming finance product lifted interest in the Layer 1 token. SUI rose nearly 14% in 24 hours, while daily trading volume increased 26%. Open interest also rose almost 21%, suggesting heavier participation in the derivatives market.
The token has gained 30.2% over the past week and traded near USD 0.96. This left SUI roughly 4% below USD 1, a level traders have watched after the asset recovered from a deep pullback. Attention has also shifted toward Sui Basecamp 2026, scheduled for October 7 and 8 in Singapore.
Some analysts have linked the latest move to capital rotating into Layer 1 tokens. Several major assets in this market segment have also posted strong gains. SUI’s rising volume and open interest have added another layer of momentum as buyers return to the token. This combination has made SUI one of the stronger recent movers in the Layer 1 category as the October event approaches.
SUI has returned near the USD 0.954 swing high that capped its August surge. During this move, the token climbed from USD 0.635 to USD 0.954 in less than five days. The advance represented a 50.14% gain before the market reversed part of the move.
After the August rally, SUI fell as low as USD 0.673. The decline pushed the token slightly below the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level. Buyers later regained control and drove the price back toward the prior swing high.
The August breakout also ended a consolidation phase around USD 0.70 that lasted since June. From the current structure, USD 1.03 and USD 1.15 remain technical upside targets. Meanwhile, the USD 0.85 supply zone offered little resistance during the latest recovery.
The rally comes as Mysten Labs Chief Product Officer Adeniyi Abiodun teased a new product aimed at expanding finance on Sui. The company has not disclosed the product’s exact features or launch details.
Basecamp 2026 could provide more clarity. The event will focus on agentic finance, payments, and financial infrastructure. The agenda points to product reveals tied to autonomous payments, instant settlement, private transactions, and stable digital assets.
Abiodun said future economic activity will increasingly involve agents transacting for users. Basecamp aims to connect the payments, wallets, protocols, and applications needed for those transactions.
Until Mysten Labs unveils the product, its functions and potential effect on the Sui ecosystem remain unknown. This leaves part of the current trading narrative tied to anticipation ahead of Basecamp.
Sui has also passed 16.6 billion transactions, marking another network milestone. At the same time, derivatives trading activity has risen sharply, adding to signs of stronger participation and possible short-term volatility around SUI.
The ecosystem also introduced Confidential Transfers, a feature built to improve payment privacy for business users. The addition fits Sui’s wider push toward financial infrastructure as attention builds ahead of the Singapore event.

Still, the market has seen failed breakouts before. SUI moved above the USD 1.05 supply zone in May, but the move did not hold. A broad crypto sell-off could create a similar setup if buyers fail to defend recent gains.
For now, SUI remains close to the USD 1 psychological level after recovering from its latest retracement. A sustained move above this mark would place the token at its strongest levels since earlier in the year.
Trading activity remains elevated as the Basecamp date approaches. SUI climbed about 17% in 24 hours during a later reading, while trading volume neared USD 1.5 billion. These figures have kept the token in focus as traders watch both price structure and the coming finance product announcement.
