Samsung May Add a Sliding Phone to Its 2027 Galaxy Z Lineup

Samsung may launch a sliding-screen phone called the Galaxy Z Slide in 2027, according to a leak. It is said to be part of a six-phone lineup. Nothing is official yet. Samsung must still solve cost, durability, and thickness issues first.

Samsung may launch a new phone called the Galaxy Z Slide in 2027. A leak says the screen would slide out to get bigger instead of folding open like the Galaxy Z Fold. Samsung has not confirmed the phone, its name, or its release date.

Six Phones Could Join the Lineup

A tipster named TheGalox shared the leak on X. The list has six phones: the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, Galaxy Z Slide, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro, Galaxy Z Fold 9, and Galaxy Z Flip 9. The TriFold 2 is said to come first. Samsung has not shared a schedule.

More choices could help Samsung reach more buyers. But it could also confuse them. If three Fold models look and work in a similar way, it may be hard to know which one to buy. The Fold 9 Pro is also new to the rumor list. No trusted details about it have come out yet.

Samsung Has Shown Sliding Screens Before

The Galaxy Z Slide would likely let you pull the screen to make it larger. You would not need to open a hinge. Samsung has already tried this idea in concept form. At CES 2025, Samsung Display showed a few sliding designs.

The Slidable Flex Duet grows from 8.1 inches to 12.4 inches. The Slidable Flex Solo grows from 8 inches to 17 inches. A third concept, Flex Vertical, goes from 5.1 inches to 6.7 inches.

Still, a concept is not a finished phone. Samsung would have to fix a few problems before selling one. The phone must last through daily use. It must stay thin. Moving parts also cost more to make, and they can break.

What Comes Next

For now, the Galaxy Z Slide is only a rumor. We do not know its screen size, chip, battery, camera, or price. The six-phone list should be seen as an early leak, not a real plan from Samsung. The mobile brand has not said that all six phones will launch in 2027. More news may come in the next few months. Until then, buyers should wait for the company's own word.
