Google AI has recently released new tools fully integrated into major Learning Management Systems (LMS) including Canvas and PowerSchool Schoology Learning. These integrations will help educators and learners by including features such as NotebookLM and the Gemini app in their LMS systems to simplify their work.
NotebookLM provides an option to upload different files like course material, research papers or lecture notes. The AI-based tool generates quizzes, summaries, and discussion questions and provides Audio Overviews that transform the content into a podcast format for the benefit of students. Furthermore, NotebookLM Plus provides options for increased storage for large classes and institutions for easy course organization.
Other Learning Management Systems (LMS) compatible with Google’s AI include Canvas and PowerSchool Schoology Learning. The Gemini app’s side panel integrates AI into all Google Workspace applications, including Gmail, Docs, and Slides. This feature allows users to aggregate email threads, make data analyses, and produce content without having to switch between several applications useful for both educators and learners.
Chromebook Plus devices come with AI-based features such as “Help Me Write” and “Help Me Read” to enhance writing and reading, respectively. Live Translate provides real-time translated captions in more than one hundred languages to support communication in multilingual classrooms worldwide. Google Lens search visually through images, videos, and live streams. This feature supports real-time navigation and increases comprehension of class content.
Google AI’s classroom innovations include the Gemini app, which supports safe and responsible use by teenagers. It provides content filtering and AI literacy videos to ensure secure interactions with the platform.
Custom vocabulary lists in Google Classroom allow educators to create tailored word banks with definitions and examples suited to specific topics and grade levels. Personalized learning is further supported through Gems, specialized AI tools that can adapt to individual students’ needs based on uploaded resources like Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
