Poco has widened its M8 series in India with the M8x 5G, a phone built around endurance rather than camera bragging rights. It slots in as the more affordable entry point below the AMOLED-equipped M8 5G and M8 Power 5G.
The Poco M8x 5G costs Rs. 20,999 for the 4GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant and Rs. 22,999 for the 6GB RAM option. A Rs. 2,000 launch coupon brings effective prices down to Rs. 18,999 and Rs. 20,999. Sale begins August 27 at 12 pm via Flipkart, in Leather Green, Cobalt Blue, and Black colorways, with the green variant featuring a vegan leather back.
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, a 4 nm chipset. Poco claims it is the first of its kind to arrive in an Indian retail phone, pairing two 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 cores with six 2 GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
RAM options top out at 6GB LPDDR4X with UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via microSD. A triple cooling system, combining a large graphite sheet, copper foil layer, and thermal gel, handles sustained performance under load.
The 6.9-inch HD+ LCD panel runs at 120Hz and sits under Gorilla Glass 7i. Camera duties go to a 50-megapixel primary sensor at the back and an 8-megapixel front shooter. The headline feature remains the 7,900 mAh battery, Poco's largest yet in the M8 range, backed by 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging. The phone ships on Android 16 with HyperOS 3, backed by four years of OS updates and six years of security patches.
Why it mattersPoco is betting that battery life and 5G access at a low price beat display quality for a large chunk of Indian buyers, a formula that has worked for its M-series before.
