OpenAI has started rolling out its newest AI models, GPT-4.1 and the mini variant GPT-4.1 mini, to ChatGPT users. These AI models, released in April, have improved coding capabilities and improved interpretation of user commands.
The GPT-4.1 model is currently accessible to paid ChatGPT users on the Plus, Pro, and Team plans. Its state-of-the-art performance in coding as well as software development makes GPT-4.1 quicker and more precise than its ancestors.
GPT-4.1 can execute complicated tasks and stick to detailed directions. It can also sustain extended conversations with its 1 million-token context window. OpenAI emphasized its advantages on X, noting it's a solid replacement for earlier models such as o3 and o4-mini, particularly for developers.
Taking the place of GPT-4o mini, the GPT-4.1 mini model is the default choice for free-tier users. Although smaller than GPT-4.1, it still offers significant improvements. It's tuned for general use, such as responding to everyday questions, following up on questions, and helping with lightweight coding tasks.

Multiple models are now available through a dropdown in ChatGPT, with the option to select the most appropriate one based on need. GPT-4.1 comes with a subscription starting at $20/month (Plus) with Pro options up to $200/month. Team plans for ChatGPT start at $25 per user per month and allow multi-user collaboration.
OpenAI provides more efficient and powerful AI tools with the GPT-4.1 line to an even larger audience. The Sam Altman-led company further solidifies its leadership in AI sector with these updates. Whether developer or occasional user, these new models will offer a better, more responsive ChatGPT experience.
