OpenAI will host OpenAI DevDay 2026 on September 29 at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Sam Altman will lead the opening keynote, which starts at 10:30 pm IST for Indian viewers. The annual developer event will highlight new tools, product updates, demos, workshops and technical sessions.
OpenAI will livestream the keynote online, allowing developers worldwide to follow the announcements without attending. The official event page describes the program as a chance to “go deep in technical sessions” with OpenAI teams.
The biggest focus could remain on ChatGPT, AI agents, Codex, APIs and developer workflows. OpenAI did not confirm a complete announcement list, making several reported products uncertain before the keynote. Reports have pointed toward a possible ChatGPT Pro Max subscription, potentially priced around USD 500 monthly.
An always-on assistant reportedly called ‘o’ could also appear as OpenAI expands longer-running task automation. Another reported project called ‘Aeon’ could bring broader agent capabilities for handling everyday digital tasks. Developers could also see updates across Codex, APIs, deployment tools and software development workflows.
OpenAI may demonstrate faster processing, improved integrations and new controls for building AI-powered applications. Security could receive attention through enterprise controls, monitoring features and safer approaches to autonomous agents. Reports have also mentioned possible cybersecurity products, although OpenAI did not confirm those plans.
Model announcements remain another major area to watch during Sam Altman’s keynote. Names including GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Cyber have appeared in reports and industry discussions.
OpenAI did not confirm any new GPT release, pricing change or hardware launch for the keynote. This makes the confirmed developer program more reliable than the various product rumors circulating before DevDay.
Indian developers can watch the free livestream through OpenAI’s official DevDay event website. The company will also bring DevDay Exchange to Bengaluru, alongside several international developer events later this year. For developers tracking AI agents, Codex and API changes, the keynote could set OpenAI’s next direction.
