Nothing is getting ready to launch a new kind of AI gadget. The company has confirmed that its first AI-native device will arrive in December 2026. Nothing CEO Carl Pei has announced this through one X (formerly Twitter) post. He described the product as, “a tool, but one built with the personality and care that have come to define a Nothing product.”

The biggest surprise is that it will not have a screen. The CEO has mentioned that the device will offer features that simply can’t be added to a standalone mobile application. He also says the company wants to make it a useful tool rather than just another tech product. However, Nothing has not shared its name, price or exact launch date yet.

The new device will mainly focus on workplace use. Pei believes AI will become a bigger part of office work before it becomes common in everyday life. He also feels that current AI tools do not always make daily tasks easier. For example, people may come up with a good idea during a meeting but forget to save it. Nothing wants to make such tasks easier with a separate device.

Why Does Nothing Need a Separate AI Device?

A new AI gadget needs to do something that a smartphone cannot do as easily. Most people already use their phones for voice notes, reminders and AI tools. So, there’s no point for them to carry another, unless the device is extremely useful.

A gadget that doesn’t have a screen may help users save ideas anytime, anywhere. It can even help people focus better during meetings. However, all these features will matter when the gadget will be easy to use. Thus, Nothing has an interesting idea, but the product still has a lot to prove. If it works well and saves people time, it could find a place in daily work; otherwise, people will forget it within months.
