Nokia is at the centre of fresh online claims suggesting a foldable 5G smartphone planned for 2026 with dual displays, a 6500mAh battery, and an eye-catching price below Rs 1,599. The device would disrupt current economic conditions of the foldable market because its price would exceed existing premium pricing standards.
The design description indicates it will use a foldable design with a large internal display for media viewing and multitasking purposes. Moreover, the model comes with an external display that enables basic functions like receiving calls and checking notifications.
Foldable hardware has so far been expensive to manufacture, making these claims unusually bold.
The claimed 6500mAh battery stands out sharply. Most smartphones cannot support this capacity, which foldable devices must accept because of their design limits and hinge mechanisms. The implementation of 5G technology creates additional challenges because 5G chipsets and antennas create substantial cost increases.
However, the biggest question mark remains the sub-Rs. 1,599 price tag. Industry analysts note that foldable displays alone cost more than the entire bill of materials for most entry-level smartphones. With no information on processor choice, camera hardware, build quality, or long-term software support, the feasibility of such pricing remains unclear.

So far, neither Nokia nor HMD Global, which makes Nokia-branded smartphones, has confirmed the device or its specifications. The company has not provided any information about the product's launch schedule, its availability in stores, or its pricing details.
The claims need to be treated with caution because they require verification from the company. The current product specifications and pricing information for the proposed Nokia mass-market foldable device do not yet confirm its existence as actual product plans.
