Microsoft confirmed a major Windows and Surface event for October 7 in San Francisco. The showcase will center on local AI, AI PCs, Surface hardware, and Windows 11. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will headline the event. The keynote starts at 10 am PT and 1 pm ET, with Microsoft expected to stream the presentation online.
Microsoft says the event will discuss ‘how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC.’ The focus points toward hardware that can process advanced AI workloads directly on devices. Microsoft also plans to connect Windows improvements with newer AI hardware. The event could therefore reveal how the company plans to push AI deeper into everyday computing.
The biggest hardware reveal could involve the Surface Laptop Ultra. Microsoft linked the premium device with NVIDIA RTX Spark technology. The platform combines powerful computing with local AI capabilities for demanding workloads. Microsoft could finally disclose pricing, configurations, availability, and Windows optimizations for the upcoming machine.
NVIDIA's presence adds another layer to the announcement. RTX Spark targets computers that can handle large AI models locally without constant cloud processing. Microsoft showed Surface hardware using RTX Spark for developer workloads. The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box offers 128GB unified memory and up to one petaflop of AI compute.
Windows 11 will also receive attention during the keynote. Microsoft could highlight better local AI support, improved performance, and deeper Copilot integration. Current reporting does not point toward a Windows 12 announcement at the event. Instead, Microsoft appears focused on extending Windows 11 around emerging AI capabilities.
The October showcase could also introduce refreshed Surface hardware and broader ecosystem updates. Microsoft may use the event to explain how future Windows PCs will balance local processing with cloud services. Faster responses, stronger privacy, and reduced cloud dependence remain key benefits of on-device AI.
Microsoft last held a major Windows event in May 2024. The October 7 presentation therefore marks a significant return to a dedicated Windows and Surface showcase. The combination of Microsoft and NVIDIA leadership places local AI at the center of the next PC chapter.
