Meta Platforms is raising USD 15 billion through a five-part US dollar bond offering as the Facebook parent steps up efforts to finance its expanding AI infrastructure investments. The fundraising highlights how major technology companies are increasingly turning to debt markets to fund the rising cost of building AI data centers and computing capacity.

The bond sale, announced on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, comes as Meta increases spending on AI infrastructure and seeks additional capital to support its long-term expansion plans.

Meta’s USD 15 Billion Bond Sale: Key Details

The regulatory filing shows that the offering includes USD 3.25 billion of notes maturing in 2031, carrying a 5.85% coupon, and another USD 3.25 billion of notes due in 2033, with a 6.25% coupon.

The five-part offering is part of Meta’s broader fundraising strategy as the company seeks to secure funds for its growing infrastructure needs.

Meta had previously raised USD 25 billion through an investment-grade bond sale in April. It also issued USD 30 billion in bonds last year, reflecting its increasing reliance on external financing to support long-term investments.

The latest debt offering comes days after Meta expanded plans for what could become a USD 97.5 billion equity raise, underlining the scale of funding required for its AI ambitions.

AI Investments Drive Meta’s Fundraising Push

Meta has said it expects capital expenditure of USD 135 billion to USD 145 billion this year, with a significant portion driven by investments in AI infrastructure. The spending includes expanding data centers and securing the computing capacity required to develop and deploy advanced AI systems.

The company’s latest bond offering also reflects a broader trend across the technology sector, with major players raising fresh capital to finance AI data centers, cloud infrastructure and computing resources.

Technology companies have traditionally relied on strong cash reserves to fund expansion. However, the scale of investments required for the AI race is pushing even cash-rich companies towards external financing.

Moody’s Assigns Aa3 Rating to New Debt

Moody’s assigned Meta’s new debt an Aa3 rating, indicating it expects the company to maintain conservative financial policies and a positive net cash position despite rising AI spending.

According to data compiled by LSEG, Meta’s total debt stood at USD 83.67 billion as of September 30.

The latest fundraising highlights the growing financial commitments involved in the global AI race, as technology companies compete to expand infrastructure and strengthen their positions in the rapidly developing sector.
