LG Display will unveil the world’s first 27-inch 4K OLED panel with an RGB stripe structure and a refresh rate of 240Hz for monitors at CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics exhibition.
This new panel represents a major leap for OLED monitors, marrying ultra-high resolution with high refresh rates and enhanced text clarity features long requested by gamers and professional users alike.
The RGB stripe structure arranges the three primary colors, red, green, and blue, in a row, and this configuration is widely regarded as the best for both text and color quality.
It also reduces the effects of distortion, such as color blending and line appearance, especially at close viewing distances typical of computer monitors, where one might sit right in front of the screen.
RGB-stripe OLED displays are available, but the 60Hz refresh rate limit has posed difficulties for gaming monitors. The majority of current top-tier gaming OLED monitors still use RGWB structures that add an extra white subpixel, or the triangular RGB layout, both of which can hinder text rendering.
LG Display asserted that the latest panel was the first to feature a 240Hz refresh rate and the RGB stripe structure. The company achieved this by utilizing its patented Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology, which allows users to create UHD 240Hz and FHD 480Hz settings based on the application in use.
For achieving this, the company resorted to several new approaches, like raising the aperture ratio, which corresponds to the part of each pixel that radiates light, hence making it possible to obtain both increased brightness efficiency and quicker pixel response at the same time.
The panel has been optimized not only for fast-paced FPS games but also for Windows and font-rendering engines, packing 160 pixels per inch to deliver sharper text and high color fidelity for productivity and creative work.

LG Display plans to first apply the new pixel structure to its high-end gaming and professional monitors. Currently, the company is mass-producing about 30% of the global OLED monitor market, and it claims to lead the premium segment in terms of specifications such as refresh rate, response time, and resolution.
“Technology is the backbone of leadership in the increasingly expanding OLED monitor market,” said Lee Hyun-woo, head of LG Display’s Large Display Business Unit, promising that the company will maintain its prioritization in differentiated, high-value technologies to consolidate its global position.
