The director mentioned, “At this year's D23, we're finally able to announce a release date for Kingdom Hearts IV, and I can confidently say and promise that it will launch in 2027.” Further, he added, “Schedule-wise, development is very smooth, it's not like an 80% thing, 90%, it's a 100% thing, so we'll be there for sure.”
The first look of the game introduced Sora in a new setting and showed the game using Unreal Engine 5. Since then, Square Enix has kept details under wraps. The lack of new footage led some fans to think the game was in trouble. Nomura’s latest comments suggest that is not the case.
