Google Pixel has beaten Apple iPhone in a hands-on test of AI photo editing tools in 2026. The comparison tested a Pixel 10 Pro XL and iPhone 16 across concerts, beaches and family trips.
The test focused on removing unwanted people, fixing reflections and improving photo details. Google delivered better results through more AI editing features in Google Photos.
The comparison found Pixel’s Magic Editor and other AI tools handled difficult edits more smoothly than Apple’s Clean Up. The test also showed Google’s tools could edit photos captured on either smartphone. Pixel offered stronger results even when the original photo came from the iPhone.
A concert photo highlighted the difference between the two phones. Pixel removed unwanted hands with fewer visible errors than the iPhone. Apple’s Clean Up left noticeable distortion after removing objects from the image.
Google also performed better when removing reflections from a shop window. The Pixel produced a cleaner result while keeping important details visible inside the display. The result showed how generative AI can solve difficult editing tasks without another app.
The Pixel also offers AI Enhance, which can improve detail, color, and overall image appearance. Apple does not provide a similar AI enhancement feature inside its Photos app.
Google also supports text prompts for photo edits, although the feature sometimes changes the wrong objects. Some requests can also fail when images contain text or complex details.
The comparison concluded, “Apple’s AI image editing tools don’t hold a candle to Google’s.”
Pixel therefore leads in AI photo editing, while iPhone remains stronger for privacy and consistent photography. The result gives Pixel an advantage for users seeking flexible AI editing without third-party apps.
