Apple's next-gen iPhone 18 series is generating buzz with fresh leaks pointing towards design updates. A smaller Dynamic Island might be introduced along with many spec upgrades. The latest reports suggest that under-display Face ID and other features will remain unchanged in these new models.
iPhone 18 leaks state that all the phones in the lineup will feature a smaller Dynamic Island. According to a trusted Weibo leaker, Instant Digital, a similar change was suggested for iPhone 17 Pro, but Apple did not implement the shrink in that lineup.
Dynamic Island's smaller size is viewed as a stepping stone toward a less cluttered, more visually engaging screen experience.
One of the highly expected upgrades, embedding Face ID hardware under the screen, seems to have been pushed back. According to Instant Digital, the iPhone 18 Pro models won't feature under-screen Face ID. Face ID sensors and the front-facing camera will stay in a smaller Dynamic Island cutout.
As per these leaks, the under-screen Face ID will most likely make its first appearance in iPhone 19 Pro and other versions with greater modifications.
