The iPhones continue to stay in the limelight among tech enthusiasts, especially after the latest launch of the iPhone 16 series. However, leaks about the next-generation iPhone 17 models are now doing the rounds and has brought with it some much-needed excitement with incredible possible upgrades.
What is interesting is that the standard iPhone 17 and the rumored iPhone 17 Air model will boast ProMotion displays up to a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus already boast 60Hz displays.
According to a report by Display Supply Chain Consultant Ross Young, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air would come with ProMotion technology, this would allow for "fluid visual effects". It will also "preserve battery life by dynamically varying refresh rates.".
Young further wrote, "The iPhone 13 Pro models ramp down to 10Hz, while the iPhone 14 Pro through iPhone 16 Pro models go as low as 1Hz, supporting an always-on display feature." However, it's not certain whether the new models would be able to be as potent.
The iPhone 17 Air is in line to replace the present Plus model. In the past, there were rumors as to changing its name to iPhone 17 Ultra as the new series is going to be pricey.
Recent leaks went on to clarify and confirm all these, revealing that the iPhone 17 Air will pack a camera system in one configuration and a less potent chip than its Pro siblings. Some reports also indicate that the new model will come with an ultra-thin design, akin to what might be expected to see of Apple's M4-powered iPad Pro in relation to the size of the USB-C port.
Apple has applied new developments in the field of ProMotion displays and a new Air model in order to make significant differences in user experience. Perhaps the changes would bring easier operation of games and video playback in everyday life with the device. Where innovation counts, the gaming and technology world is waiting with anticipation for further development from Apple.
