Apple is preparing a major leap in artificial intelligence. The tech giant is all set to bring a new “Siri Mode” for the iPhone camera with iOS 27. The move could turn the camera into a powerful visual search engine, reducing reliance on typed queries. Reportedly, Apple is developing a new Siri Mode in the Camera app to make searching faster and more efficient.

Apple Bets on Camera-First AI with Siri Mode

As per reports, “the new mode could sit alongside existing camera options like Photo and Video, allowing you to switch seamlessly into an AI-powered interface. Once activated, the shutter button may transform into an interactive AI icon. Thus, allowing you to point their camera at objects and ask questions in real time.”

The system needs to perform object detection, text recognition, and scene interpretation at all times. It could also answer follow-up questions through voice, making the experience conversational and fluent. The feature forms part of Apple’s broader Apple Intelligence strategy. The company intends to integrate artificial intelligence throughout its system rather than provide it as a standalone application.

Reports suggest the upgrade will enhance existing visual recognition capabilities. The system will make its features available through the Camera App, which will provide users with easier access to its functions instead of hiding them in hidden system components.

What Else to Expect in IOS 27

Looking ahead, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said, “Siri will evolve into a more conversational assistant with deeper system-level controls and possibly a standalone app. This will help Apple make its ecosystem. This includes smart wearables like AI-enabled glasses or camera-equipped audio devices, better, where real-time visual understanding will play a key role.”

According to recent reports, Apple appears to be exploring partnerships with external AI systems to enhance Siri's functionality. The update represents a complete shift toward visual-based computing systems. Users will use visual elements to interact with technology instead of typing search terms.
