India has increased talks with the United States to get fair access to Mythos AI, a powerful model created by Anthropic. The government considers this an important step to protect the country’s critical infrastructure from new cyber risks.
Officials are working on ways to allow Indian companies to use Mythos AI. The focus remains on defence and security use. Without access, key systems in India may face higher risks from advanced cyber attacks.
Mythos AI has created concern across the world because of its strong abilities. The model can find and use software weaknesses much faster than older systems. This makes it useful for security work but also risky if used in the wrong way.
Anthropic has not released Mythos AI to the public. The company said the model can affect public safety and national security. Instead, access is limited under a program called Project Glasswing.
Nearly 40 global firms have received early access. These include large tech and finance companies. However, no Indian company is part of this group. This has raised concern among Indian officials.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman confirmed that talks are ongoing. The government is in contact with the US, Anthropic, and companies testing the model. She warned that Mythos AI brings a serious cyber challenge.
The government has also held meetings with banks and cyber agencies. These talks focused on risks to banking systems, telecom networks, and power grids. Officials asked these sectors to improve their security systems and stay alert.
Agencies like CERT-In and NCIIPC are working to protect sensitive systems. The government wants quick action to reduce possible risks from advanced AI tools like Mythos AI.
At the same time, officials want fair access for all. The government does not want to support only a few companies. It aims to create equal opportunities while protecting national interests.
India is also preparing for the future. More companies may launch similar AI models soon. Some may release them without warning. This makes early preparation very important.
The push for Mythos AI shows a larger change in how countries see security. Cybersecurity now plays a key role in protecting important systems. Advanced AI tools are becoming both helpful and risky at the same time.
