Nintendo has left several Switch 2 gamers in shock. The holiday season is on, and this is one of those times when gamers dive deeper into the gaming world. However, at the beginning of the holiday season, Nintendo Switch 2 gamers received a brutal hit when Nintendo reportedly closed the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle.
At the time of Nintendo Switch 2’s launch, the Mario Kart Bundle and the Pokémon Legends: Z-A were the main attractions for gamers to buy the next-gen Nintendo console. However, from the beginning, the pack was a limited-time promotional offering, and it seems Nintendo has decided to end the Mario Kart bundle.
Despite no official information about the bundle's withdrawal, a leaked internal retail notice revealed that the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle has reached the end of its lifecycle. The production of the bundle is officially halted for now. The memo emphasized that the bundle SKU will no longer be restocked, indicating Nintendo's strategic shift toward promoting standalone console purchases without any game bundles.
Retailers who are still offering the bundle can continue to do so until their inventory runs out. Once these units are gone, players will probably have to buy the console and the game separately. Purchasing the combo together used to cost $30 less than purchasing them separately.
The decision wasn’t unexpected, but it startled gamers because of the timing. From the beginning, Nintendo marketed the bundle as a limited-time launch promotion. Therefore, one shouldn’t think of it as lasting forever.

With production halted, players have been speculating whether Nintendo will revive the bundle later. As of now, Nintendo said nothing about the bundle, its production stopping, or revival. However, based on previous trends, industry experts opine that the company may explore new bundle strategies or bring back the Mario Kart World bundle.
Historically, Nintendo has often rotated bundles in response to seasonal promotions, flagship releases, and market strategy. This raises the possibility that future bundles may feature different games to help Nintendo maintain momentum without reintroducing the same package.
However, Nintendo even repeats bundles. Throughout the lifespan of Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle appeared as a limited-time deal multiple times. Therefore, Mario Kart World Bundle may also come to Switch 2 later as a promotional deal; at least the possibility can’t be ruled out.
What players have been wondering most at this point is whether ending the Mario Kart World bundle will impact Nintendo’s broader Switch 2 sales strategy or not. Some gamers believe that removing the bundle will slow the momentum. In contrast, others are confident that this move will allow Nintendo to refresh its marketing approach with newer, more exciting packages.
For gamers, it undoubtedly marks the end of one of the most attractive deals. However, for Nintendo, it opens the door to restructure how future bundles are positioned and marketed.
