HMD Slate Tab 5G has resurfaced in new renders showing a large display, colorful bodies, and accessory contacts. The tablet could launch alongside Skyline 2 after roughly two years of development. The latest leak appeared on October 4 through tipster HMD_MEME'S on X. The renders show blue and orange finishes, a single rear camera, and POGO contacts underneath.
The reported design could turn the HMD Slate Tab 5G into a laptop-style device through keyboard accessories. The tablet reportedly takes visual cues from Microsoft's Surface lineup and Nokia Lumia 2520.
The POGO pins could connect a keyboard dock, giving the 2-in-1 tablet stronger productivity appeal. HMD has not confirmed the device, launch date, pricing, or target markets.
The biggest change involves the display, with newer reports pointing toward a 15.6-inch LCD panel. Earlier leaks described a 10.6-inch IPS LCD with 2000x1200 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. That smaller version reportedly included Gorilla Glass 3 and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor.
The earlier configuration also listed 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, and a 9,250mAh battery. It reportedly supported 30W charging, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a headphone jack. Those specifications may not apply if HMD redesigned the tablet around its larger display.
Camera details also remain uncertain, although older reports mentioned 13-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front sensors. The latest renders show only one rear camera without confirming its resolution or imaging features.
The tipster described the project as a 2-in-1 Android tablet developed for more than two years. The reported Surface-style approach could give HMD a different position in the tablet market.
HMD could reportedly introduce the tablet with Skyline 2, but no official launch event has surfaced. Until HMD confirms the product, conflicting screen sizes remain the biggest question surrounding its launch.
