HCLTech is investing Rs. 14,257 crore into a new AI data center in Odisha. The project is announced to be a part of the state's upcoming Sovereign AI Park in Bhubaneswar. It is one of the biggest bets yet on India's AI infrastructure.
The company is teaming up with Sarvam AI and the Odisha government for this plan. Together, they aim to build strong AI computing power for the country. The move also pushes Odisha further into the spotlight as a growing hub for digital infrastructure.
The new facility will combine HCLTech's full range of AI capabilities with Sarvam AI's foundational models. Together, these will power AI infrastructure and applications for government bodies, businesses, and research institutions.
India's need for secure, home-grown computing resources has been rising fast. This data center is meant to meet that need directly. It marks a shift away from relying on AI infrastructure based overseas.
HCLTech is not stopping at the data center. The company also plans to open a technology delivery hub in Bhubaneswar with room for 5,000 employees. This hub should start operations by 2028.
The two projects together are expected to create many jobs, both direct and indirect. They also add real weight to Odisha's technology ecosystem, which has been growing steadily in recent years. This investment follows HCLTech's earlier funding round in Sarvam AI, part of its wider push into AI infrastructure, models, and enterprise tools.
