Rockstar Games’ most anticipated title, GTA 6, may not stick to its current release timeline. Industry insider Jason Schreier has flagged fresh uncertainty around the game’s launch, raising the possibility of yet another delay.

The game’s release journey has already seen multiple twists. Initially planned for 2025, Rockstar later confirmed a May launch this year, only to push it back by around six months to November. Now, new comments suggest that even this window may not hold.

What Did Jason Schreier Say About GTA 6’s Progress?

Speaking on the Button Mash podcast, Schreier said that GTA 6 is not yet ‘content complete.’ According to him, Rockstar developers continue to finalize missions, add new elements, and decide what ultimately makes it into the final build.

Schreier added that no one at Rockstar feels fully confident about hitting the November release target. Once content work wraps up, the studio still needs to enter the bug-fixing phase, a process that could take significant time given the game’s massive scale and complexity.

Why Could Rockstar Delay the Game Again?

Rockstar has always been known for emphasizing polish over speed. Schreier stated that the developers would rather delay GTA 6 than release a faulty product. The studio needs to avoid a tough launch, given the massive hype the game has generated.

The history of Rockstar’s releases shows that the company is not setting aggressive quality timelines, even if it means temporarily annoying its fans.

When Could GTA 6 Realistically Launch?

Schreier thinks Rockstar might aim for a release that coincides with Take-Two Interactive's fiscal year-end, which is late March 2027. Since Take-Two's stock performance is largely dependent on GTA 6, it would be a smart move to launch before the end of the fiscal year.

Rockstar has not made any formal announcement yet. However, based on insider information, gamers should be prepared for the possibility of another delay.
