Google may be getting ready to further tweak the stylization, the design, the gimmick, of the Gemini overlay window on Androids. As another user pointed out in Reddit, seasonal configurations such as Pixel 9 Pro and Gemini Advanced subscription, the users have noticed the new interface in the Gemini AI assistant app version 1.0.686588308.
The new overlay appears to alter the large square design with the new, thin rectangular oven with pink and blue neon lines glowing. The minimalist UI includes just three interactive icons: a plus symbol, a microphone and a Gemini Live icon – they’ve made the design cleaner and more customer oriented.
The new Gemini overlay has a bold white background which is different from the current dark grey scheme. It will be observed that there is no sign of the sparkling icon and welcoming message that forms part of the current layouts. Also, the full screen button you find at the top right corner seems to have been eliminated from the application to make it more concise.
Reddit user “amitsama92,” who first posted the screenshot, speculated that the design could be in the early beta stage since its unveiling is limited to a small share of users. For now, the interface appears to be somewhat restricted to certain devices or users; although this has probably been deliberately done by Google for testing purposes.
It should also be noted that while some users have written the blog post saying that they have received the new interface, several other users claim they have not seen the update at all, an indication that it may still be in the highly controlled testing phase at this time. Even reputable websites such as 9to5Google have also failed to confirm the update for other Android gadgets.
Although the new design appears to be much more modern and efficient, Google has not officially acknowledged the development or its plans to release it yet. This redesign can be used if this becomes popular, as it will be another step closer to making Android device AI more interactive.
