Google’s new features extend cross-device sharing capabilities on Android, kicking off with Android 11 and more. The organization officially premiered the new features at the Google I/O 2024 developer conference today.
These are now available on Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices running on Google Play Services version 24.35.30.
This update has improved call casting and internet sharing. Users will have to locate the "Settings" app, then navigate to "Google," then "Devices & sharing," then "Cross-device services" to access these features. First, users will need to group the devices so all of them use the same Google Account to log in.
Casting from users will enable voice or video calls to switch between Android devices signed into the same account. The feature is only available in Google Meet at this time.
Internet Sharing lets a user share several other Android devices, even Chromebooks, to their phone, giving them an internet connection, no password required. It will only be active if Bluetooth and location services are enabled.
