Google has expanded Gmail's AI capabilities with AI Inbox, AI Overviews, and an upgraded Help Me Write feature. Powered by Gemini, the new tools are designed to help users organize emails, find information faster, and draft messages with less effort. The features are rolling out to Google AI Pro, AI Ultra and eligible Google Workspace subscribers.
The new AI Inbox changes how Gmail displays emails. Rather than just listing your messages based on their arrival time, it highlights those that need your immediate attention. There is a Proposed To-Dos list that helps you locate those emails that may need some action from your end, such as sending responses to certain requests or paying bills.
Another section, named Topics to Catch Up On, categorizes the emails together along with an overview of them. This function operates with the emails that reside in the Primary folder and not in spam or any other folder.
Google has also enhanced Help Me Write, allowing users to generate an email draft by entering a simple prompt. The tool can also rewrite the draft based on the user's preference. It can make the email shorter, more formal, more detailed or easier to understand before it is sent. The final draft remains editable, giving users complete control over the message.
Another addition is AI Overviews, which condenses lengthy email threads into short summaries. Users can also ask Gmail questions about emails in their inbox using natural language. Instead of searching through multiple conversations, the feature pulls together relevant information and presents it in a concise format.

The latest Gmail update is part of Google's wider effort to integrate Gemini across Workspace applications. The company says the new tools are aimed at reducing the time users spend managing emails while making it easier to stay on top of conversations.
