Google is expected to launch the Pixel 11 series later this month. Ahead of the announcement, the tech-giant is teasing the book-style foldable Pro model. Recently, it shared the rear side of the models, which will come with a redesigned camera module.

A fresh leak has revealed that the Pixel 11 Pro Fold could arrive with a new feature called HiLight. This feature will be a notification indicator on the back, which was initially expected to be called Pixel Glow

According to the leak, the HiLight feature will allow users to ‘stay informed,’ even when their smartphone is lying face down. The post mentioned, “When your smartphone is face down, HiLight discreetly illuminates when your favorite contacts call you, or you chat with Gemini.” This means users may not have to open the phone every time they receive a notification. Google has not confirmed the feature yet, so the information should be treated as a leak.

The Pixel 11 lineup is also expected to bring a faster Tensor chip, better AI tools, an 8-inch Super Actua Flex display, and 24-hours of battery life.

Why HiLight Could Be Useful on a Foldable Phone

One small problem with foldable phones is that users often need to unfold them just to check a new notification. This may not seem like a big issue at first, but it can become annoying after repeated use.

A notification light on the outside could make things much easier. Users could quickly tell if they have a call, message, or another alert without opening the phone. It may also help save battery because the main screen would not need to turn on as often. If the feature works well, it could become one of the most useful additions to the Pixel Fold series.

Not every smartphone feature needs to be flashy. HiLight is still based on leaks, and Google has not confirmed anything yet. However, if it arrives with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, it could make the phone easier and more convenient to use every day.
