Google expanded Dreambeans, its experimental AI storytelling app from Google Labs, to India. The app uses a user’s connected Google services and interests to create personalized, illustrated daily story collections. It is available to users aged 18 and above on Android and iOS.

Dreambeans marks Google’s first international rollout for the product. The company built the India launch around local-language access, offering 14 languages. These include Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese, Nepali and English.

How the App Works

Dreambeans does not require users to type a prompt. It draws context from connected Google services such as Calendar, Gemini, Gmail, Photos, Search and YouTube, then turns that information into visual stories about the user’s interests, plans and everyday activities.

The app can surface ideas beyond a user’s routine. It may highlight local events, travel ideas, arts and crafts, or topics connected to recent searches and saved content. Users can bookmark stories and share them with others.

Google positioned language support as a central feature of the India rollout. Users can choose one output language at a time, even though the app can process activity across multiple languages.

Why it Matters

India gives Google a large, multilingual testing ground for Dreambeans. The launch reflects the company’s wider push to make AI products feel more personal, visual and locally relevant rather than limited to English-first interfaces.

The move also raises familiar questions around data use. Dreambeans relies on personal context from Google services, which makes user consent, transparency and data controls important as adoption grows.

Google will likely watch how Indian users respond to proactive, story-style content. If Dreambeans gains traction, it could influence how the company designs personalized discovery experiences across Search, Gemini and other consumer products.
