Fortnite players have a new reason to search for treasure. Ahead of GTA 6’s November 19 release, live-service games have been trying all the possible measures to keep their player base intact, and Epic Games isn’t an exception. The game has recently introduced a rare Pirate Shop reward that lets lucky players claim almost every Item Shop cosmetic for free for 14 days.
The reward is part of the pirate-themed Treasure Hunters season. Once players find and activate it, they can pick several items from the shop without spending V-Bucks. This makes it one of the biggest free cosmetic offers Fortnite has ever brought to the game.
However, there are only two chances to claim the reward. Players can use one Pirate Shop pass in 2026 and another in 2027. The first pass must be used by December 16, 2026, while the second remains available until December 16, 2027.
The offer does not cover real-money items, gifts, or Battle Pass levels. Players also cannot claim Sidekicks they already own. Epic Games has not shared the drop rate, so finding the reward may take some luck.
The timing of this giveaway is interesting. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, and its arrival could draw players away from other games. Major live-service titles like Fortnite need players to return regularly. Rockstar's next big release could make that harder for a while.
The Pirate Shop reward gives players another reason to explore the game and open treasure chests. Its rare drop rate could encourage more players to take part in the season. The two chances to use the reward also give winners some freedom to choose when they want to claim their items.
Still, free cosmetics alone may not be enough to hold players' attention. Fortnite will need fresh events, new gameplay, and exciting collaborations to keep its community engaged, especially when GTA 6 arrives.
