Elon Musk’s AI tool Grok Imagine has released the first episode of its AI-generated adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. This happens months after the tech billionaire promised to create a historically accurate, full-length film based on the ancient Greek poem.
The first seven-minute episode of the series was shared on X on Friday, October 23. The project credits Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker for their creative collaboration.
The release marks a partial step towards Musk’s earlier promise to produce an entirely AI-generated feature film based on ‘The Odyssey’ before the end of 2026.
In July, Musk announced that Grok Imagine would create a full-length adaptation that would be ‘historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.’ He accompanied the announcement with an AI-generated three-minute short of the epic, posted by an X user.
The Grok Imagine account shared the latest episode and invited viewers to comment on whether they wanted a full breakdown of how the project was made. No further statement accompanied the release.
Musk’s plans for an AI-generated adaptation come amid his repeated criticism of Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey, particularly its casting choices.
The tech billionaire has questioned the casting of Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy and Elliot Page as Sinon. In March, Musk accused Nolan of being an ‘anti-White racist’ and claimed the director cast Nyong’o because ‘He wants the awards.’
Musk has also criticized the film’s approach to representation and inclusion, making the upcoming AI-generated adaptation part of a wider debate surrounding the director’s interpretation of Homer’s epic.

Musk’s July announcement drew a sharp response from filmmaker Scott Derrickson, known for directing Doctor Strange and The Black Phone.
On X, Derrickson wrote to Musk: “Clearly @elonmusk doesn’t know shit about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s.” He added, “His opinions on art are worthless.”
Musk has not provided further details about the AI-generated film’s production or confirmed when the complete feature will be released. He still plans to release a full-length adaptation by the end of 2026.
