Apple’s antitrust case in India has moved into an important stage. The Delhi High Court has refused to pause the ongoing investigation against the tech giant. The court asked the company to cooperate with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), which is looking into the company’s App Store practices.

The case started after complaints from app developers surfaced. They claimed Apple forces them to use its payment system and charges high for in-app purchases. The CCI earlier found signs that the tech giant may have used its strong position to create a closed ecosystem and force users to pay an unfairly high price for purchases in the Indian market.

Apple denied the claims and challenged parts of the investigation in court. The company argued that the regulator was asking for financial details beyond the scope of the case. Previously, CCI also accused the tech giant of requesting extensions and refusing to provide necessary financial documents.

The Cupertino-based tech giant further appealed for the probe to stop until the court decides on its separate legal challenge. However, the Delhi High Court did not agree to a full block on the investigation. It allowed the probe to continue while temporarily preventing the regulator from issuing a final order.

The case is important because a ruling against Apple could result in significant penalties and changes to App Store rules in India. It may also push India to take stricter action against other global tech companies in the future.
