The artificial intelligence race is being fought on technology, capital and talent. But when it comes to personal wealth in 2026, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei leads OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
According to Forbes’ latest real-time estimates, Amodei’s net worth stood at USD 15.5 billion as of September 14, 2026. Altman’s fortune was estimated at USD 3.3 billion on September 15, bringing Amodei’s wealth to more than four times Altman’s.
According to the latest Forbes estimates, “Amodei's net worth is around USD 15.5 billion, compared with approximately USD 3.3 billion for Altman. That means Amodei is worth roughly USD 12.2 billion more than Altman and has a fortune nearly 4.7 times larger.”
Forbes reported in May that the company had reached a private valuation of about USD 965 billion, pushing the estimated fortunes of its seven co-founders significantly higher. Forbes estimated Dario and Daniela Amodei at USD 15.5 billion each at the time.
The jump highlights a major increase from earlier estimates. In February, Forbes had valued Amodei’s fortune at around USD 6.8 billion after Anthropic’s USD 30 billion funding round pushed its valuation to USD 380 billion.
The latest figures make the comparison clear. Amodei’s estimated USD 15.5 billion fortune exceeds Altman’s USD 3.3 billion by about USD 12.2 billion.
The contrast is notable because both executives remain central figures in the global AI race. Their companies are competing for customers, computing capacity, talent, and technological leadership. For now, however, the personal wealth race has a clear winner: Dario Amodei.
