Anthropic has introduced a safer variant of its Claude Mythos 5 AI named Claude Fable 5 along with certain precautions which can help reduce misuse. Anthropic claims that its new model is much better than all its previous models and thus requires enhanced security precautions.
One of the main changes introduced with this AI is imposing a limit on conversations around cybersecurity, biology, and chemistry topics, as these may involve illegal behavior.
While Claude Fable 5 used to generate answers for such queries before, it will now be substituted by an older version of the model due to increasing knowledge and consciousness regarding the subject matter in the AI industry.
Anthropic pointed out that the biggest updates about Claude Fable 5 concern the approach taken towards sensitive topics. According to Anthropic, there will be instances when Claude will refrain from answering certain questions about cybersecurity, biology, and chemistry. In some instances, such inquiries may even fall under Claude Opus 4.8’s jurisdiction.
Anthropic's choice is motivated by the development of its new AI technologies. The Claude Fable 5 is based on Claude Mythos 5, which is Anthropic's most advanced technology available to a select few trusted users.
The new technology has demonstrated significant progress in cybersecurity issues. For example, researchers applied the technology to study several codes for possible vulnerabilities in macOS. These AI tools offer significant advantages for companies, but they also come with certain risks and challenges

Anthropic understands the fact that the information which can be useful to researchers and cybersecurity personnel could also become harmful if it reaches the wrong hands. Therefore, the company has decided to limit access to Mythos 5 to Project Glasswing, which is developed specifically for cybersecurity professionals.
The company wants to increase the number of such people who can gain access to the system in the coming years. However, the company currently feels the need to emphasize safety as its priority.
