Christopher Nolan's ‘The Odyssey’ is doing more than drawing cinephiles to theatres. The release of the movie is again bringing players back to Ubisoft’s 2018-released title, Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Even with that long gap, both share the world of ancient Greece and Homer's famous story; this connection has made many people return to the game.
According to the latest reports, Assassin's Creed Odyssey has seen a clear rise in player numbers since the movie's release across PC and consoles; the biggest jump was on Xbox. The console saw a 134% jump, which brought the active player count to 84,000 daily active users from an earlier 36,000.
These statistics were published by Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliot, who stated, “The film didn't make millions buy an eight-year-old game, but it got a massive cohort playing it again. That data gives Ubisoft great ammunition for an eventual AC Odyssey Resynced.”
This is not the first time a movie or TV show has helped an older game. Cyberpunk 2077 found a huge new audience after Netflix released Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The same happened with The Witcher 3 after Netflix's show and The Last of Us Part I after HBO's hit adaptation.

These examples show that a good film or series can send people back to games they may have missed or stopped playing years ago. Some want to explore the world for the first time, while others simply enjoy returning to a familiar adventure.
For Ubisoft, this renewed interest comes without launching a new expansion or major update. The game is getting attention simply because people are excited about the movie. That is a good result for a title that has already been on the market for several years.
