OpenAI is rolling out its dedicated Health in ChatGPT experience to eligible users in the US. But here’s the catch! The end of the waitlist does not mean that ChatGPT Health is now available worldwide.
The feature will roll out to users who are 18+ and are US-based signed-in users. It is available across ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans on the web and iOS. This means users in other countries might be unable to find the Health option in the ChatGPT sidebar, regardless of their subscription plan.
The primary reason is regional availability. OpenAI has currently limited the rollout to the US, where users can connect supported medical records and Apple Health data. The company has not yet announced a timeline for expanding the dedicated Health experience to other countries.
For users in India, this means the feature may not appear even if they had previously joined the waitlist. This limitation has to do with the phased introduction and not with the users' ChatGPT plan.
According to OpenAI's Help Center, “ Health is available on a phased basis, while Android support is yet to come. ChatGPT Health is created to integrate health-related information in one single platform. People will be able to link supported health records and wellness data, access information like lab results, medication, sleep, and activities, and ask questions based on their health.”
The feature can help users understand medical information, prepare questions for appointments, track wellness trends, and identify changes over time.
OpenAI has stressed that Health is intended to support medical care, not replace doctors or professional treatment. The company further explained that the new feature’s data and conversations using the health data are not used for training the underlying foundational model nor targeted ads.
