Brazil's consumer protection agency is pushing for a major penalty against Apple. According to reports, the case was filed by the National Association of Centers for the Defense of Children and Adolescents (ANCED), Educafro Brasil, and the Santo Dias Center for Human Rights. These agencies found that Apple was allowing casino-style apps via the App Store without effective age verification. Reports point out that the lawsuit seeks R$300 million (around $59 million) in moral damages along with strict safeguards against such scenarios.
One of the apps that attracted attention includes Casino Roulette: Roulettist. The app is mentioned to be suitable for people above 18 years, but the agencies have found that anyone can download it without any age verification. Reportedly, the app includes games such as poker, roulette, baccarat, and slot machines, alongside in-app purchases priced as high as R$599.90.

The case focuses on whether Apple should be held responsible for apps available through its platform. Officials argue that companies running app stores must do more to stop harmful or illegal content from reaching users. Apple has defended its review process in the past, saying it checks apps before they are published and removes those that break its policies.
The dispute raises an important question about how much control app store operators should have over the software they distribute. Governments in several countries are now asking large tech firms to take greater responsibility for what appears on their platforms.
