BNB slipped below $850 early Sunday, trading at $849.89 on Dec. 21 as mild selling pressure continued across the cryptocurrency market. The token fell 0.51% over 24 hours while traders watched support near $850 and resistance between $870 and $880.
BNB’s market capitalization stood near $117 billion, keeping the token among the five largest cryptocurrencies by market value. Trading volume remained near $3.5 billion over 24 hours. The token has moved between $840 and $870 during the week. That narrow range followed a period of consolidation after BNB traded at higher levels earlier in December.
Technical indicators showed BNB staying above important support zones despite the modest decline. The $850 area remained the immediate level under pressure as overnight selling pushed the token lower.
At the same time, traders continued to monitor whether BNB could regain the $870 to $880 range. A recovery into that area would place the token back near the upper end of its recent weekly range. The key question is whether BNB can hold support near $850 long enough to rebuild momentum toward $870 and above.
BNB Chain continued to post stronger network metrics during the fourth quarter. Daily transaction volumes and active addresses increased, supporting activity across the wider Binance ecosystem.
The network’s total value locked rose 30.7% during the third quarter to $7.8 billion. Growth in decentralized finance protocols drove much of that increase.
Stablecoin market capitalization on BNB Chain also climbed 32.3% to $13.9 billion in the same quarter. Those gains added another measure of network activity beyond BNB’s short-term price moves.
Crypto commentator DongPham said BNB had recorded three constructive weekly closes but remained in a broader retracement. The analyst said BNB lost a long-term uptrend around $673 in February. DongPham identified $780 to $790 as a possible longer-term retest zone. Under that framework, BNB would first need to reclaim $628 to $635 and then break above $673.
The analyst also said trading volume had not increased with the latest recovery. Lower participation could make it harder for price gains to move through several resistance levels.
Shorter-term levels in the analyst’s setup included $600, $610, and liquidation clusters around $618 to $623. The $780 to $790 target remained a longer-term scenario rather than an immediate objective.
A drop below $594 could invalidate that bullish setup. The short-term bias remained constructive while BNB stayed above $593.86, while a move below $598 would weaken the breakout attempt.
For US traders, BNB also remained sensitive to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and wider risk markets. Interest-rate expectations, Treasury yields and the dollar can influence demand for higher-risk crypto assets. BNB also carries exchange-specific risk because of its close link to the Binance ecosystem. Availability and liquidity can differ across US platforms, affecting spreads and execution conditions.
BNB traded below $850 after a modest daily decline while network metrics remained firm. Traders continued to watch the $870–$880 recovery area, while DongPham’s framework pointed to separate lower support and resistance levels. Market participants also tracked broader crypto conditions and Binance-related liquidity risks.
