BMW Group India plans to raise vehicle prices again as the weaker rupee and higher commodity costs put pressure on its business. The proposed increase would mark the luxury carmaker’s fourth price revision in India during 2026.
BMW and MINI vehicle prices have already increased by up to 5% through three revisions this year. BMW Group India President and CEO Hardeep Singh Brar said another increase could come as early as next month.
Brar said foreign exchange movements have raised costs for the company. He also pointed to commodity prices as another reason behind the planned BMW India price hike. The company raised prices by about 4% to 5% so far this year.
“The forex has hit us quite a bit. We have increased prices by 4-5% till now and there's another one around the corner,” Brar said. He added that prices would continue to face pressure from foreign exchange rates and commodity costs.
BMW already introduced three price increases during 2026. According to Brar, the company is considering another revision as early as next month. He said foreign exchange conditions have deteriorated by about 18% since January 2025.
“We have already done three price increases this year and there's another one around the corner. We are considering it may be next month,” Brar said.
Brar made the comments after BMW launched its new 7 Series range in India. The flagship luxury sedan will be available with petrol and fully electric powertrains. BMW will also offer the performance-focused BMW i7 M70 in India.
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh unveiled the new 7 Series and was introduced as the brand voice for BMW India. Customers can now book the new models through BMW dealerships, while deliveries will begin in October 2026.
BMW will also start local production of the new BMW i7 at its Chennai plant. India will become the only country outside Germany where BMW locally produces the electric luxury sedan.
“In addition to the 7 Series, the new BMW i7 will also now be locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai,” Brar said. However, BMW will continue to import the higher-performance i7 M70 as a completely built-up unit.
BMW priced the new 740 M Sport at Rs 1.95 crore, ex-showroom. The electric BMW i7 eDrive 50 xDrive M Sport also carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.95 crore.
Meanwhile, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive costs Rs 2.65 crore, ex-showroom. The model sits at the top of BMW’s electric 7 Series range in India and will arrive as a fully imported vehicle.
The latest launch gives BMW customers a choice between petrol and electric models in its flagship sedan range. At the same time, the company continues to expand local production as it manages higher input costs and currency pressure.
BMW did not announce the size of its next price increase. However, Brar confirmed that another revision remains under consideration after three price hikes earlier this year.
