Bitcoin Uptober Slows as Polymarket Prices USD 90,000 at 22%

Bitcoin rebounded near USD 82,700 on Monday as oil prices declined. Polymarket traders priced a USD 90,000 October target at 22%. Fund outflows and inflation worries continued to cloud the seasonal Uptober rally.

Bitcoin traded near USD 82,700 on October 19, as Polymarket assigned a 22% chance of reaching USD 90,000 before October ends. The odds contrasted with hopes for an “Uptober” rally, despite a rebound above USD 82,000.

Falling oil prices supported the recovery, but two weeks of Bitcoin fund outflows and inflation concerns weighed on sentiment. The cryptocurrency stayed within last week's trading range.

The recovery followed a difficult week for cryptocurrencies and technology stocks. Bitcoin lost roughly 3% last week as investors questioned heavy spending on artificial intelligence and reassessed risks linked to inflation and interest rates.

Polymarket Odds Narrow Bitcoin's October Upside

Polymarket traders placed the probability of Bitcoin reaching USD 85,000 during October at 66%. The odds dropped to 39% for USD 87,500 and fell further at higher price targets. Polymarket quoted a 22% chance for USD 90,000 and 11% for USD 92,500.

Those figures measure whether Bitcoin reaches each threshold before the monthly deadline. They do not represent the probability of Bitcoin closing October 31 at those levels. The market's scheduled end date marks the limit for those price targets, not a forecast of a single closing price.

Bitcoin would need to rise nearly 9% from USD 82,700 to touch USD 90,000. That requirement stands against earlier market forecasts centered on USD 90,000 to USD 98,000 by month end. More optimistic projections had pointed to USD 105,000 or higher.

October's strong historical performance gave rise to the term “Uptober.” This year's price action has challenged that pattern. Lower prediction market odds now contrast with earlier bullish targets, with less than two weeks remaining.

Bitcoin Rebounds as Oil Prices Retreat

Bitcoin gained as much as 2.3% during early Asian trading on Monday. It stood near USD 82,400 around noon in Singapore before the later quote of approximately USD 82,700. Ether also climbed as much as 3.7%, while Solana advanced more than 4.6%.

The gains accompanied lower oil prices and stock futures. Brent crude declined as much as 2% after reaching a five-month high. Signs that Middle Eastern supplies had continued despite the United States' war with Iran helped ease immediate concerns.

Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures rose roughly 0.8%, and Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 1.3%. The moves followed last week's technology-led equity selloff, which also affected cryptocurrencies. Concerns over extensive artificial intelligence investment had contributed to the broader decline.

Still, oil remained around USD 107 a barrel, above prices seen during most of the previous week. Damien Loh, chief investment officer at Ericsenz Capital, described Bitcoin's rebound as a recovery from widespread selling. He also saw few immediate catalysts for new highs and pointed to continued downside risks.

Bitcoin ETF Outflows Extend Market Pressure

Investor withdrawals from United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds added another challenge. Those funds recorded USD 228.6 million in net outflows last week, following USD 681 million in withdrawals the week before. Together, the two periods reflected weaker institutional demand.

The selling came as inflation concerns complicated expectations for interest rates. Last week's equity losses also pressured cryptocurrencies. Monday's advance reversed part of that decline but did not move Bitcoin outside its recent range.

Bitcoin continued trading between the previous week's reference levels of USD 80,000 and USD 85,000. The upper boundary also aligned with Polymarket's most likely quoted upside threshold, while the USD 90,000 target remained beyond that band.

Can Bitcoin reach USD 90,000 before October ends? Polymarket's 22% implied probability captured traders' positioning at the time of the reported figures. The platform's prices can shift with new trades, while the recovery remains inside last week's range.

Takeaway

Bitcoin's Monday rebound to around USD 82,700 came as crude oil retreated and stock futures advanced. Yet Polymarket assigned just a 22% chance of Bitcoin reaching USD 90,000 during October. Two consecutive weeks of spot ETF outflows and lingering inflation concerns kept the cryptocurrency within its recent USD 80,000–85,000 trading range.
