Binance recorded USD 3.64 billion in customer withdrawals after restoring exchange services on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The withdrawal surge followed a USD 6.3 billion crypto heist that disrupted the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange. Customers moved funds as Binance reopened transactions and worked to replace stolen assets.

The exchange reported net outflows equal to approximately 2.1% of its total assets. Binance said withdrawals had started stabilizing, while deposit activity remained substantial across its platform. The company also confirmed that replacement purchases had covered approximately 95% of the stolen cryptocurrency.

Binance used company funds to recover around USD 6 billion worth of affected assets. The remaining 5% involves less liquid tokens that require additional time to source. The exchange said it would cover the financial impact without shifting losses onto customers.

Withdrawal services returned through multiple phases, with Binance prioritizing tokens according to customer demand. The first phase included 15 cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, Ether, and Dogecoin. Selected USDC and USDT stablecoin transactions also entered the initial withdrawal rollout.

However, withdrawal estimates differ between Binance and independent blockchain analytics platforms. DefiLlama reported outflows of USD 5.81 billion, compared with Binance's USD 3.64 billion figure. A Binance spokesperson disputed the estimate, saying it excluded deposits into the exchange's new hot wallet.

The FBI identified North Korea's state-sponsored TraderTraitor group as responsible for the attack. Investigators said the hackers converted stolen cryptocurrency into Ether and expected further laundering activity. Blockchain analysts also linked the incident to tactics used in previous North Korean crypto thefts.

The incident adds fresh pressure on Binance's security measures and customer confidence. The exchange holds approximately USD 171 billion in total assets and serves 335 million registered users globally. Its ability to restore normal operations and protect customer funds remains central to rebuilding trust.
