Ather Energy launched the Ather Konarc electric scooter in India with prices starting at Rs. 99,999 ex-showroom Bengaluru. The family scooter introduces an EL platform and three S variants. Their claimed IDC ranges cover 100km, 125km and 161km. Ather plans another version with a 200km IDC range.
Ather Konarc S 100 costs Rs. 99,999 and offers a claimed 100km IDC range. Meanwhile, S 125 costs Rs. 1,21,999 and claims 125km. S 161 costs Rs. 1,44,999 and provides a claimed 161 km IDC range. All prices apply ex-showroom Bengaluru in India.
Ather will initially sell S 125 and S 161 in select markets. Bookings and phased deliveries will begin in mid-September 2026. S 100 should arrive during the fourth quarter of FY2027. Ather expects the Konarc Z during FY2028’s first quarter.
S 200 should follow during that financial year’s third quarter. Unpriced Konarc Z models will offer 125km and 161km IDC options. The Z line targets 80 km/h, compared with 70 km/h for S models.
Ather says the Konarc is the first production scooter using its EL platform. The system combines a new chassis, powertrain and electronics architecture. It can support several scooter formats.
The company developed the EL platform using data from 26 lakh kilometres of field use. A steel unibody chassis provides the scooter’s main structure. Ather has also set periodic service intervals at 10,000km.
S 100 uses a 2.1kWh battery and produces 4kW of peak power. It delivers 16Nm of torque. The S 125 carries a 2.7kWh unit, while the S 161 receives a 3.5kWh battery. Both larger S versions produce 4.7kW and 16Nm. Ather claims TrueRange figures of 80km, 100km and 130km.
Each model includes a 450W onboard charger. Buyers can add another 450W charger for combined 900W charging. The S 161 includes this additional charger. Ather co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta said, “Konarc has been designed to make EVs mainstream in India.”
The Ather Konarc uses a flat floorboard, a single-piece seat and front LED daytime running lights. It also gets 31 litres of underseat storage and a two-litre front compartment.
Everyday functions include Park Assist Reverse, which uses the motor during backward movement. AutoHold keeps the scooter stationary after it stops. Selected models also receive FallSafe, AirWalk and USB Type-C charging.
Konarc Z models add Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System. Ather says AEBS adjusts brake-force distribution electronically, depending on road conditions. The system aims to reduce stopping distances and rear-wheel locking during hard braking.
MagicKey lets Konarc Z 161 riders unlock the boot through the Ather app. AutoPop can open the boot without a key. Z models will display Google Maps, WhatsApp information and cricket scores. The dashboard will show cricket updates only while the scooter remains stationary.
Ather Connect adds theft alerts, tow alerts, ride records and remote charging updates. It also offers Find My Scooter and over-the-air software updates.
Ather’s fifth-generation Bedrock battery package includes BreachSense monitoring. The company says it detects small battery damage after severe crashes and identifies moisture risks early. A separate warranty option covers ten years or 100,000 km and guarantees at least 70 percent battery health.
