Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the handset may resemble two iPhone Air models placed side by side, featuring an ultra-thin titanium chassis.

The dual-screen foldable design, predicted to be a bold step by Apple, could revolutionize the foldable smartphone market, which is currently dominated by Samsung.

What Do We Know So Far?

According to some latest leaks, the upcoming foldable iPhone is expected to feature a similar build to the newly launched iPhone Air. Apple has recently surprised its fans with the slimmest iPhone ever, iPhone Air, a model with only 5.6mm of thickness and a titanium frame.

The Bloomberg report suggests that the foldable design will look like “two iPhone Airs stacked on top of one another, joined by a hinge. In other words, it’s going to be super thin and a design achievement.”

Combining two iPhone Air models, the overall thickness would be 11.2mm. Experts believe the tech giant would focus on bringing substantial changes to compete with its rival, Samsung Z Fold 7, which is only 8.9mm thick.

Apple, highly acclaimed for pushing smartphone design boundaries, “would likely try to make its foldable even slimmer,” the report added further.

The foldable iPhone is likely to feature a 7.8-inch inner display for an immersive experience with a 5.5-inch outer unit. Previously, some reports claimed that the foldable iPhone would abandon Apple Face ID, allowing the tech leader to reduce its thickness.

Will the Foldable iPhone be Manufactured in China?

Buzz is strong that Chinese factories will provide production support to Apple, contrary to previous claims that highlighted the use of Indian workplaces to facilitate upcoming manufacturing. Meanwhile, Apple has significantly expanded production unit facilities in India over the past couple of years.

Expected Price Range of Foldable iPhone

The foldable iPhone is likely to launch at a lofty price tag. The reported price, according to Bloomberg, is around $2,000 (roughly Rs 1,76,000) in the US market. In the Indian market, the price will be much higher, similar to other iPhone variants. Meanwhile, Apple’s competitor, Samsung Z Fold 7, was earlier launched at $1,999.

Meanwhile, with sleek design, exciting features, and impressive camera upgrades, the iPhone 17 series is currently available across the globe. The excitement surrounding the foldable iPhone is already building despite any official confirmation from the tech giant. Now, Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the next Autumn, when the foldable iPhone alongside other iPhone 18 series models is expected to launch.
