Apple gave its Magic Keyboard lineup a small design update. The company changed some of the symbols on the keys while keeping the prices unchanged. For example, in the US version of the Tab, Caps Lock, Shift, Delete, and Return keys now have symbols, instead of writing the names of the keys. Apple even adopted a similar approach in newer MacBook models, including the MacBook Neo and MacBook Air.

The change is mostly about how the keys look, Apple didn’t change the fundamental hardware, including wireless connectivity, rechargeable batteries, and USB-C charging. The company didn’t introduce a redesigned chassis or new typing mechanism; the physical design is largely intact. On Touch ID models, the biometric sensor remains available for unlocking compatible Macs and authentication.

In India, Apple introduced the standard USB-C Magic Keyboard at Rs. 9,500, while the Touch ID version is listed at Rs. 14,500. The extended Touch ID model with a numeric keypad is priced at Rs. 17,500

Why Apple is Using More Symbols

The move to symbols could help Apple keep its keyboards more uniform across countries. Text on a key may need to change depending on the local language. A common symbol does not have the same problem. This can also make the keyboard easier to understand at a glance. Users can identify a function from its symbol without having to read a word.

For Apple, the change also fits its simple design style. The company can use the same visual language across more products and markets. Still, the change shows that Apple is paying attention to small details in its accessories. The decision to keep prices unchanged is also important. Buyers get the updated design without having to spend more.
