Apple is undergoing one of its biggest leadership changes in years. Several top executives have left the company over the past few months. The company confirmed that its Head of Artificial Intelligence, Senior Legal Counsel, Policy Vice‑President, and Design Lead will depart in 2026.
John Giannandrea, Apple’s AI Chief, will retire in early 2026. He will stay for a short time as an advisor. Giannandrea helped build Apple’s AI, including Siri. His departure comes as Apple seeks new leadership in AI.
Kate Adams, Apple’s General Counsel, is also retiring. She handled Apple’s legal matters, privacy, and global lawsuits. Jennifer Newstead from Meta will take her place in March 2026.
Lisa Jackson, Vice President for Environment, Policy, and Social Programs, will leave in January 2026. She worked on Apple’s environmental projects and government policies. Her exit may change how Apple handles these areas.
Alan Dye, Apple’s Head of Design, is leaving to join Meta. He helped design Apple’s software and devices. Another Apple designer, Billy Sorrentino, will also join Meta.
Other high-profile executives, including Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Williams, are also leaving the company. The reorganization impacts Apple's artificial intelligence, legal, policy, and design groups. Although new leaders can introduce fresh ideas and concepts, losing so many experienced people at once may slow progress.
Apple is planning carefully. Legal and government work will be handed over to new leaders. Environmental and social projects will go to other senior staff. The company needs to stay steady while working on AI, design, and global rules.
This is a key moment for Apple. New leaders could bring new energy. At the same time, the company must make sure its important projects continue smoothly.
