Apple has released the iOS 27 public beta, allowing users to test its next-generation software ahead of the stable rollout expected later this year. The major addition is Siri AI, Apple's redesigned AI-powered assistant that brings deeper on-device intelligence, improved contextual understanding, and more natural conversations. The public beta also includes Apple Intelligence enhancements, performance improvements, and several interface upgrades.
The most exciting thing about iOS 27 is the new Siri AI. Compared to older versions, the new Siri AI understands contextual information, identifies information on the screen and can perform more complicated tasks using Apple applications.
Users can ask Siri to find a particular email, to get a certain photo, to make notes out of messages, summarize content, or perform any other multi-stage task without changing their app. Siri's natural language understanding has also been significantly improved. Although the feature is available at this point in the beta version, compatibility with many third-party applications will be added over time.
This version is the first opportunity for users who don't have a developer account to try the newest features of Apple's AI ecosystem. Experts suggest that users should install the beta version after backing up their phone.
Apart from Siri AI, there is now AI photo editing, faster search in Photos, improvements to Camera, Messages, performance optimization for the whole system and security improvements. In the public beta OS version, Apple is more focused on providing AI experiences and improving performance.
Users can now install the beta by signing in to Apple's Beta Software Program with their Apple ID. Once enrolled, open Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, choose iOS 27 Public Beta, and begin the installation. Apple suggests making a device backup before the upgrade process since beta versions are incomplete and contain bugs.
iOS 27 is available on supported iPhone models. Whereas Apple Intelligence and Siri AI need newer iPhones. Users with an older iPhone that supports iOS 27 won’t have all of Apple Intelligence’s capabilities.
